My love of oil painting centres around portraits painted from life and still life painting inspired by the works of Claude Monet, Arthur Streeton, Grace Cossington Smith and Margaret Olley. I enjoy visiting Australian regional galleries as well as private galleries and museums, such as the Frick Museum or Jacquemart-Andre Museum, to discover their hidden art treasures.
As a member of the Bass Artists Society I attended classes by teachers such as Agata Lelek.
In 2002 I joined the Gregory R. Smith Painting School, known for its emphasis on tonal realism painting as practised by Max Meldrum.
In 2009 I became a member of the Victorian Artist Society and very much enjoy the stimulation and camaraderie of the Society’s Friday Group. I am a regular exhibitor at the Society’s annual portrait exhibitions as well as its seasonal exhibitions.
I have held several of my own portrait exhibitions and in 2017 won the Hugh Ramsay award.
