Nathan Moshinsky VAS

Still Life with Green Bottle

Tropical Jungle

Over the last 30 years Nathan has developed and pursued an interest in drawing and painting which has been developed through personal practice. He has also completed a Diploma of Visual Arts majoring in oil painting and print making.

Nathan has exhibited in three solo shows in 1999, 2001, and 2009, with the Victorian Artists’ Society, and one solo exhibition in the Customs Wharf Gallery in Williamstown (2003). Also, he is a regular participant in group shows with that Society, and the Contemporary Artists’ Society of Victoria.

He was awarded first prize and third prize for the paintings entered by him in the annual exhibition of the Contemporary Art Society of Victoria in September 2012 (Judge Keith Looby) and a highly commended award for his entry in the Contemporary Exhibition held by the Victorian Artists Society in 2015.

In his current paintings the subject matter of his work is the landscape, fruit, flowers, or assembled objects, as well as abstract forms.

Nathan is concerned with and interested in the intensity posed by the contrast of darkness and light and by the contrast of vibrant warm colours with shadowy dark or even black areas. In this way he seeks to allude to the fragile and temporary nature of living things.

Nathan works in many different mediums including Ipad drawings. He works in an abstract expressionist style, as well as a figurative one.
