Lihong-Zhang, was born in Beijing but now resides in Melbourne, and with her studios both in Melbourne and Beijing. Since an early age she developed a love for painting; studied at the Beijing Youth Palace in her childhood, has got a National Painting Award. She completed a bachelor’s degree in drawing and design.
Lihong is influenced by Claude Monet’s work and in 2015 she studied impressionist painting for one year in Beijing, selling many of her artworks. After move to Melbourne, Lihong has become an active member of the Victorian Artist Society, participating in many exhibitions and art fairs.
Currently Lihong has chosen the Lotus flower as a reflection of her culture and a subject for the further exploration of impression.These works have a sensitivity to colour and light, bringing a fresh interpretation to the impressionist oeuvre.The Lotus flower series have strong personal character with the colour and the stroke, which could be recognized as Lihong’s style. She also creates other subject oil paintings such as landscape, holiday etc.
