Christina Nelson is an emerging artist based in Melbourne.
She has a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Biochemistry from Monash University (2018). She was awarded the top third year prize across Biochemistry units.
In 2019, she began preparations towards her first solo art exhibition.
Christina had a recent first solo art exhibition at Gasworks Arts titled ‘Ley Lines’. Eighteen original artworks were exhibited in the Angela-Robarts Bird Gallery. The exhibition was 3 February to 23 February 2020 with the opening night on 5 February.
The exhibition was mentioned in The Age M magazine.
Subsequent to the show, she has completed two commissions and sold several more artworks.
Christina’s work uses line and colour to explore the beauty of shape and design. The use of pen on paper accentuates the strength of line with colour. A major component of the impact of her work is the capacity to follow an inner voyage which is enhanced by the strong use of line to create patters of colour.
Her use of colour contrasts with the strong use of black. Further, her work invites the viewer to explore the intricacies of line as a gateway to expression and interpretation.
Christina launched her art website in March 2020.
