On behalf of The Victorian Artists' Society the President and Council Members warmly welcome Gemma Catley to the role of Manager, following the resignation of Ted Dansey. Gemma is an experienced Art School Manager with strong administrative and marketing skills, developed in the Australian and New Zealand arts sectors. Gemma successfully managed a not-for-profit art school in Wellington and she also worked at Australian Galleries.
With a Bachelor of Art History and Media Studies, Gemma has a strong interest and love of the arts. She looks forward to working with the members, the council, teachers, students and supporters to enhance the profile, reach and operations of the Society.
The fact that Walter Withers was president of the Victorian Artists' Society for only one year in from October 1904 to October 1905 does not mean that his involvement was minimal. In fact Walter Withers served on the Council of the Society continuously for 23 years from 1890 until 1913.
