Victorian Artists' Society Restoration Exposed
The opening of the Victorian Artists' Society on 27 May 1892 was described as the most important event connected with art in the history of our colony.
With the Society approaching its 150th Anniversary in three years, a major $1.5 million
privately funded restoration and upgrading of services in the building is well underway, with the Victorian Artists' Society having raised $850,000.
Currently to finish the restoration of this heritage building, another $650 000 is needed to complete the project to be able to hand the building over to future generations on its 150th anniversary.
At present we have a target of $200,000 to install a lift in the building to make the main upstairs galleries more accessible for the general community.
Enjoy a tour with Mozart as we take you through the work underway to restore this important heritage landmark, which will be re-opened on 28th March 2017 for the Victorian Artists' Society Contemporary Exhibition.
