Victorian Artists' Society Restoration Exposed  The opening of the Victorian Artists' Society on 27 May 1892 was described as the most important event connected with art in the history of our colony.   The Victorian Artists’ Society in Albert Street, East Melbourne, formed in 1870 to provide artists from all walks of life with a place to learn and exhibit their work, has announced a $1.5 million restoration program to ensure the building and Society’s ongoing contribution to Victoria’s next generation of artists.
